Offset Sources donated through Cleaner and Greener to offset Conference emissions:
Enterprise Community Partners — Enterprise Community Partners intends to donate emission reductions to offset 100% of the carbon dioxide emissions associated with this event. This donation is anticipated to also offset over 100% of the sulfur dioxide and mercury emissions, 66% of the nitrogen oxides, and 25% of particulates. Enterprise Community Partners is a charitable non-profit organization that, through its Green Communities Program, provides funding and expertise to builders for the development and rehabilitation of green, low-income housing. Enterprise’s donated emission reductions will come from energy efficiency measures in these housing developments.
Donations:
Donations are being gathered to support emission offsets from conference attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors. For this event, donations of $20 per attendee (based on 25,000 attendees) will let us offset the emissions covered by the energy use associated with this event by 200% (Based on an estimated cost to buy green power certificates of 1.0 cents per kWh).
In-kind donations are being used to help offset the emissions generated by the 2008 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo; these offsets will be retired by Leonardo Academy.
More Information about Offsetting Greenbuild 2008
Attendees are invited to make monetary donations to help offset the emissions caused by your participation in this event. A $20 donation purchases enough emission reductions to offset the average emissions caused by one attendee's travel, lodging, meals, and event activities by 200%. The monetary donations received are used by Leonardo Academy to purchase and retire renewable energy certificates (RECs) to help offset the emissions of the 2008 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. All renewable energy certificates purchased are certified renewable energy certificates from wind energy.
