Sustainable Transportation Recognition

Eligible vehicles, engines and equipment may include: buses, medium-duty or heavy-duty trucks, marine engines, locomotives and non-road engines and equipment or vehicles used in construction, handling of cargo, agriculture, mining or energy production.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies vehicle exhaust emissions among air pollutants that create the highest risk to public health, particularly to older adults, children and those susceptible to or experiencing respiratory-related illnesses or adverse health effects, including asthma and COPD. In addition to health problems, these pollutants also contribute to urban smog, acid rain, poor air quality and decreased visibility. Vehicle emissions include carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), hydrocarbons (HC), and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10).
Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener® Sustainable Transportation Program:
- Annually recognizes vehicles, fleets operators and organizations that initiate voluntary action
- Calculates the emissions caused by individual commercial vehicles and/or full fleets
- Provides recommendations to reduce fleet emissions
